Naiad

Naiads, or water nymphs, are guardians of the water realm. They are aquatic creatures and rarely leave the safety of the water. The Naiads on the Sanctuary resemble small fish and can be mistaken for minnows. They inhabit the mats of floating vegetation often found in the ponds of the Sanctuary. Naiads are opportunistic hunters and use these mats as effective traps for terrestrial creatures. Typically, creatures with poor eyesight, such as goblins, mistake the mats as solid ground and stumble into these traps. Curious children have also succumbed to these traps.. When prey is scarce, naiads will even use music to lure creatures into their traps. One of the more infamous groups of Naiads, the Sirens, would lure entire ships to their doom in the waters off Greece. Naiads can be one of the most dangerous creatures in the Sanctuary. 

Stay well clear of the water, especially where the waters edge is not clear.
