Cockatrice

Cockatrice are closely related to dragons. While dragons can use their wing-bearing front arms to support weight, a cockatrice’s wings are for flying only so they have an appearance reminiscent of birds.

Myths about Cockatrice abound, but little is really known because they are very private creatures. It is not true that they hatch from a rooster’s egg, nor that they turn everything to stone.

Cockatrice are in actuality very noble beasts, with immense power that they rarely use. It is said that even the powerful elves revered this magnificent creature for its sense of justice and magnanimous nature. C1reatures that cross the Co2ckatrice don’t regret doing so for long. Their most f3ormidable weapon is a hypnotizing stare that is completely captivating within a heartbeat and leaves their adversary totally desiccated in just a f4ew seconds (this is probably the origin of the stone-transforming myth, but the5re really is no stone). Cockatrice6 do not like to be disturbed. If you come across a Cockatrice in the Sanctuary it is best to bow politely and go about your business. They would never hurt an innocent, but if you are not innocent, avoid eye contact at all costs!
